Saint Mary’s sinks Women’s Tennis

MEQUON, Wis. – The Falcons came up short against Saint Mary's on Sunday morning. The Cardinals defeated the Falcons, 6-3. The loss sends CUW to 11-6 on the year and propels SMU to 10-5.

After the Falcons dropped points at No.2 and No. 3 doubles, the Blue and White posted a thrilling 8-7 victory at No. 1 doubles. Senior Ashley Solberg (Waukesha, Wis.) and junior Rebekah Spiegelhoff (Waukesha, Wis.) won the tiebreaker, 7-5.

CUW closed the match taking the final two points.

Freshman Ricki Budewitz (Watertown, Wis.) downed Cassandra Barr at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-3.

Junior Emma Sievers (Slinger, Wis.) finished the match with a victory over Kennedy Morgan at No. 5 singles, 7-5, 4-6, 10-3.

The Falcons look to bounce back on Sunday against Carthage and Lake Forest.
