BLOG: Segneri Coaching in Europe

April, 1, 2011 - CUW Falcon's women's tennis coach AJ Segneri will serve as a traveling coach for an organization called TENNIS:EUROPE during the summer of 2011. Segneri will be coaching top-ranked tennis juniors as they practice and play in tournaments throughout Europe. Various tournament events will take place in Spain, France, Germany, Sweden, Denmark, the Netherlands, and Italy. This 27 day experience will start June 25th.

July 25, 2011 - I wanted to give you an update on what has been going on with my European tennis tour. I have been coaching a team of 12 junior players, six boys and six girls, who are ranked in their respective section. Representing those sections is the New England, Mid-Atlantic, and Southwest regions. We played at two tennis facilities in Italy - Bologna Tennis Academy and Florence Tennis School -both of the facilities are ATP and WTA certified training facilities. We played against their respective juniors that train from their tennis clubs, which are ranked within the region if not ranked in Italy.

Currently, my team has been playing in the Strokel Open in Harderwijk, Netherlands. The players have been participating in various categories, such as boys and girls singles and doubles. Plus six of our boys played in the satellite portion of the tournament as well. All of the players have advanced as far as the semi-finals, with the exception of Ethan Nadler, from New Mexico, who is our finalists in the Level 4 singles. Ethan will be the first American finalist in the history of the Strokel Open. Ethan's doubles partner, Elliot Thaker from Maryland, have a semi-finals match this evening at 9:15 pm (Holland Standard Time). They upset the second-seeded doubles teams in the doubles portion of the tournament, which is a Level 4 tournament.

Tomorrow we will finish the singles matches and hopefully the doubles matches. Then it is off to Paris, France.

Talk with you soon.
