WAUKESHA, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Women's Hockey team has been picked for a fifth-place finish in the NCHA Preseason Coaches' Poll, the league office announced Wednesday.

The Falcons finished fifth a season ago, totaling 13 points and just missing out on the NCHA Playoffs. The league moved from a six-team playoff to a four-team playoff last season and will continue with the four teams this winter.

Defending league champion Adrian (36 poll points, six first-place votes) was picked to defend its title, coming in ahead of St. Scholastica and Lake Forest, who finished tied for second with 26 poll points. The Saints picked up the final first-place vote.

St. Norbert (23) was next in line before the Falcons (19). Marian (11) and Finlandia (6) rounded out the league poll.

CUW will begin its season this weekend with a trip to Hamline for two non-conference games. The opener is set for Friday night at 7 p.m.
