Coop, Lueck named all-conference, pace Men's Cross Country at NACC meet

WEST ALLIS, Wis. – Andrew Coop ran to a fifth-place finish, while teammate Dayton Lueck also placed inside the top 15 as the duo helped the Concordia University Wisconsin Men's Cross Country team to a fourth-place finish Saturday at the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Championships. The meet was hosted by Wisconsin Lutheran College and held at Greenfield Park.

Coop (Mora, Minn.) and Lueck (Wauwatosa, Wis.) were both named to the all-conference team for their efforts on Saturday. Each runner ran season-bests and Coop clocked in at 27:06.84, while Lueck posted a personal-best 28:04.28.

Sophomore Alex Rosenau (Van Dyne, Wis.) finished 20th in the 108-runner field as he completed the 8K course in a time of 28:11.94. Rounding out the Falcons scoring lineup, which resulted in 94 points, were freshman James Haessly (Grafton, Wis.) and sophomore Stephen Bernau (Courtland, Minn.) Haessly finished the race in 28:52.56, while Bernau recorded a time of 28:59.00.

Senior Jordan Guenther (West Bend, Wis.) ran his last NACC Championships with a time of 29:00.15 and was followed by sophomore Adam Fell (Mundelein, Ill.) who completed the course in 29:06.41. A trio of Falcons runners finished 50th, 51st and 52nd in freshman Michael Taylor (Denmark, Wis.), junior Christopher Biesboer (Elmhurst, Ill.) and sophomore Johann Hinck (Cedarburg, Wis.). Taylor shattered his previous best time as he ran a 29:28.50 Saturday.

Also running at the conference meet for CUW were junior Robert Meilbeck (Winthrop Harbor, Ill.), sophomore Micah Fritz (Roseville, Minn.) and freshmen Zach Ziemann (Jackson, Wis.) and Damon Nick (Slinger, Wis.).

The course conditions meant many slow times due to the rain that hit during the week. Despite that, CUW had many outstanding performances despite falling a little short of expectations.

Aurora completed the team sweep Saturday as they gained both the Men's and Women's titles. They finished with 45 points on the men's side and swept the major awards. Freshman Matt Meyers won NACC Runner and Freshman of the Year, while AU head coach Ryan Chapman earned Coach of the Year honors.

CUW will return to action in two weeks when they take part in the NCAA Division III Midwest Regional. The meet will be hosted by Augsburg College at Saukie Golf Course.
