Men's Cross Country begins season with home dual meet

MEQUON, Wis. - The Concordia University Wisconsin men's cross country team began its season with a dual meet against Maranatha Baptist Bible College Saturday afternoon. The team's ran a two-mile course on the campus of CUW.

Senior Martin Hinze (Bourbonnais, Ill.) led the way for the Falcons as he finished the course in 9:59. Following Hinze was junior Andrew Coop (Mora, Minn. - 10:12) and sophomore Alex Rosenau (Van Dyne, Wis. - 10:16). Finishing fourth was sophomore Adam Fell (Mundelein, Ill. - 10:25), followed by freshman Dayton Lueck (Wauwatosa, Wis.), who came in fifth with a time of 10:36.

Also competing for CUW was sophomore Stephen Bernau (Courtland, Minn. - 10:37), junior Christopher Biesboer (Elmhurst, Ill. - 10:39), freshman Zach Ziemann (Jackson, Wis. - 10:41), sophomore Johann Hinck (Cedarburg, Wis. - 10:42), freshman Michael Taylor (Denmark, Wis. - 10:52), freshman James Haessly (Grafton, Wis. - 10:56), freshman Aaron Reseburg (Sheboygan, Wis. - 11:02), junior Robert Meilbeck (Winthrop Harbor, Ill. - 11:04), senior Jordan Guenther (West Bend, Wis. - 11:32) and freshman Damon Nick (Slinger, Wis.) rounded out the Falcons lineup with a time of 12:10. MBBC had two runners compete.

"There were a lot of very excellent performances today for an early season hard effort but there is lots of work that needs to be done," said Falcons head coach Russ DeLap. "Right now we are pretty healthy and in a week from now I can see having 100% of both teams running close to full capacity which never happens. I will keep praying that everyone stays healthy. If they do we will have a team that will compete and both (Men and Women) teams have many who can compete for the top 7 places this year which is going to be fun to watch."

Next up for the Falcons is the CUW Falcon Invite, which is scheduled for September 14th. The men are scheduled to race at 12:00 p.m., which follows the women's race at 11:00 a.m.
