LISLE, Ill. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Men's Track & Field Team competed with nearly its full squad for just the second time this outdoor season in a meet Saturday hosted by Benedictine University.
The Falcons had plenty of PRs on Saturday, including several on the track. Three of those came in the 5,000-meter run as Stephen Bernau, Alex Rosenau and Zach Ziemann all posted their best times in the event. Bernau (Courtland, Minn.) ran a 16:19.44 in the event and was closely followed by both Rosenau, who posted a 16:21.11 and Ziemann who clocked in at 16:24.97. Brandon Goesch (Germantown, Wis.) also posted a PR Saturday, running a 2:00.37 in the 800-meter run.
The Falcons also had some personal-best times in the shorter distances as Jacob Grosenick (Richfield, Wis.) ran his top time in the 200, while Bathong Pham (Milwaukee, Wis.) posted his best mark in the 100. Grosenick crossed the finish line in 24.03 in the 200-meter dash with Pham posting a 11.48 in the 100.
Trent Pacheco (Iron Mountain, Mich.) recorded two PRs at the meet as he notched his best height in the pole vault and best time in the 110-meter hurdles. Pacheco cleared 3.05 meters in the pole vault and ran a 19.97 in the 110-meter hurdles.
The rest of the Falcons PRs came in the field events, including three athletes in the javelin throw. Bobby Russ (Wauwatosa, Wis.) had the best mark in the javelin as he recorded a toss of 39.19 meters. Adding PRs in the event was Colter Dziekan (Mondovia, Wis.) and Tafari Young (Orlando, Fla.). Young also posted his best career mark in the long jump with a leap of 4.95 meters.
The Falcons will return to action next Saturday (April 18) when they compete at the Meet of Champions, hosted by Augustana College.
