Hinze leads Men's Track & Field at Platteville Invitational

PLATTEVILLE, Wis. -  Senior Martin Hinze recorded the top 3,000-meter run time in the NACC this season in pacing the Concordia University Wisconsin Men's Track & Field team at the UW-Platteville Invitational Saturday. Overall the Falcons were led by the distance runners as several posted strong showings.

In the 3,000-meter run, Hinze (Bourbonnais, Ill.) finished third with a personal-best time of 8:53.17. Junior Andrew Coop (Mora, Minn.) also brought home points in the 3,000 with his seventh-place time of 9:13.0. Several other outstanding performances in the race included freshman Stephen Bernau (Courtland, Minn.), who ran a nine second PR (9:34.99), sophomore Johann Hinck (Cedarburg, Wis.) with a six second PR (9:44.36), freshman Aaron Reseburg (Sheboygan, Wis.) with a five second PR (10:05.28) and freshman Michael Taylor (Denmark, Wis.) with a six second PR (10:08.35).

In the sprints, sophomore Mike Prue (Kenosha, Wis.) ran a personal-best in the 400-meter dash taking fourth place with a time of 50.91 seconds, which ranks him third in the conference. Prue also ran anchor in the men's 4x400-meter relay along with sophomores Damon Nick (Slinger, Wis.) and Bathong Pham (Milwaukee, Wis.) and freshman Logan Hass (Manawa, Wis.), placing seventh. The men's 4x200-meter team consisting of sophomore Nick Simich (Barlett, Ill.), Pham, senior John Balsman (Rockford, Ill.) and sophomore Seth Donovan (Caledonia, Wis.) took fourth with a time of 1:35.06.

Sophomore Jacob Kroll (Germantown, Wis.) threw a PR in the weight throw (11.33 meters) as well as Donovan in the shot put (10.06 meters). Junior Andrew Faber (Germantown, Wis.) threw well again this weekend, finishing sixth for CUW in the weight throw

The Falcons will be close to home next weekend as they compete at UW-Milwaukee. They will be partaking in the UW-Milwaukee Panther Tune-Up, which is slated to begin at 9:00 a.m. Saturday.
