MEQUON, Wis. – Junior Keegan Van Dusseldorp scored two goals in leading the Concordia University Wisconsin Men's Soccer team to a 3-0 win over Beloit College Saturday afternoon at Fitting Field.
After a pair of heartbreaking double overtime losses, the Saturday win was just what the Falcons needed to get back on track in 2014. CUW dominated the game from the get go, holding a 23-1 edge in shots.
Van Dusseldorp got the Falcons on the board at the 34:22 mark, scoring off a long pass from sophomore Neil Tandon (Woodbridge, Ontario). The goal was Van Dusseldorp's second of the season.
Just five minutes later the Falcons pushed their lead to 2-0 when Sean Cropper (Green Bay, Wis.) netted his first career collegiate goal. Senior Adrian Vargas (Monterrey, Mexico) sent a corner kick to the front of the goal and Cropper was there for the header, giving CUW a 2-0 advantage before the break.
CUW (1-3-0) would push its lead to 3-0 at the 61:24 mark when Van Dusseldorp struck again. Freshman Luis Loya (Bolingbrook, Ill.) sent a cross to Van Dusseldorp who finished the play with his second goal of the afternoon. Senior Diego Campos (Milwaukee, Wis.) added an assist on the third goal.
Senior Eric Vogel (Itasca, Ill.) had an easy time in goal for the Falcons as he did not face any shots on goal from the Bucs. CUW on the other hand sent 10 shots on goal, two each from Vargas, Loya and sophomore Jordan Moehn (Fond du Lac, Wis.). BJ Kiser made seven saves for Beloit in the loss. Vogel moved to 1-2-0 on the season with the win.
The Falcons will return to action tomorrow afternoon when they host North Park in a matchup at Fitting Field. North Park played Saint John's at Fitting Field earlier today and defeated the Johnnies by a 3-0 count. SJU and Beloit will meet tomorrow at 1:00 pm and live coverage of both of those contests will be available at CUWFalcons.com.
