Balanced attack leads Men's Lacrosse to victory at Elmhurst

ELMHURST, Ill. – Concordia University Wisconsin had 11 players find the back of the net as it defeated Elmhurst College, 14-2, in the Midwest Lacrosse Conference opener for both programs at Langhorst Field on Wednesday.

The Falcons opened with a 6-0 advantage after 15 minutes of play and never looked back as they outshot the Bluejays by a 47-14 margin. CUW (4-2) also won 15-of-19 faceoffs and collected a season-high 39 ground balls over the first year program.

Junior Sam Wladyka (Winnipeg, Manitoba) continued his offensive scoring spree with two more goals and a season-best three assists. Sophomore Matt Larsen (Gurnee, Ill.) and freshman Matt Garvey (Winnipeg, Manitboa) added two goals apiece in the win. Junior Justin Krause (Hartland, Wis.) assisted on a pair of goals.

Freshmen Danny Bundra (Lake Zurich, Ill.) and Dylan Gill (Holland, Ohio) won eight and seven faceoffs, respectively, for the Falcons. Bundra also picked up a team-high six ground balls.

Tyler Dailey and Ben Porter each scored for EC (0-1). Tyler York picked up a game-high nine ground balls and Alex Opyd won four faceoffs.

After a Marino Best (freshman, Naniamo, British Columbia) goal just over a minute into the contest, the Falcons tallied three goals during a one minute and 47 second span midway through the quarter to extend their lead to 4-0.

Freshman Blake Keenan (Schaumburg, Ill.) tallied his first career goal to open the second quarter and push CUW's lead to 7-0. The Bluejays scored their first program goal when Porter found the back of the net with 1:37 to play in the half.

Leading by a large margin, sophomore Andy Riveness (Hastings, Minn.) netted his first goal of season for a 14-2 final score. The Falcons had a collective effort between the pipes with junior Zack Davis (LaPorte, Ind.), sophomore Emmett O'Malley (Elk Grove, Ill.), along with freshmen Thomas Mueller (Prior Lake, Minn.) and Mackennon Falvey (Mukwonago, Wis.) getting time.

CUW returns to MLC action on Saturday at Fontbonne University at 1 p.m.
