Trine controls first half, defeats Men’s Lacrosse

Box Score: TU 11, CUW 9

TRINE, Ind. -
Trine University controlled the first half and held off a late Concordia University Wisconsin rally in the fourth quarter to earn an 11-9 Midwest Lacrosse Conference victory on Saturday afternoon.

CUW fell behind by seven goals, 9-2, in the opening half because TU controlled nearly every statistical category. Sam Wladyka and Justin Krause led the Falcons offense in the second half, but it was not enough though as they snapped a four-game winning streak.

Wladyka scored a season-high four goals, while Krause assisted on three goals for the third-consecutive game.

Dalton Madsen and Andy Lauer combined for seven of the Thunder's 11 scores. Madsen also recorded three assists in the win.

TU (4-2, 1-0 MLC) owned a 2-1 advantage after the first 15 minutes of action before finding the back of the net five times in less than five minutes to open the second period. The Thunder held a 30-6 shot advantage and had a 27-9 lead in ground balls during the first half.

CUW (4-4, 2-2 MLC) regrouped in the second half and outshot TU 29-15. The Falcons were able to move the ball consistently from end-to-end throughout the contest, evident by their 19 clears, but their deficit was too much to overcome.

The Falcons return to action on Wednesday when they host MSOE a 4 p.m. during MLC play at Fitting Field.
