Men's Hockey drops NCHA road tilt at St. Scholastica

DULUTH, Minn. – St. Scholastica scored midway through the third period, breaking a 2-2 tie, to edge the Concordia University Wisconsin Men's Hockey team Friday night. The Falcons scored two goals in the second period, erasing an early two-score deficit, but the Saints third-period goal was the difference in a 3-2 NCHA contest.

- For the second straight game, CUW struggled in the opening period. The Falcons fell behind 2-0 after 20 minutes of play on Saints goals by Carson Rose and Kyle Star. The second of the Saints first-period scores was recorded on the power play.

- CUW equaled the score in the second stanza with a pair of goals scored within 3:10 of one another. Braydon Barker (Red Deer, Alberta) struck first, 13:08 into the second, for his fourth goal of the season. Josh Adkins (Victoria, British Columbia) and Jim Pearson (Ashton, Ontario) assisted on the Barker score.

- Just 3:10 later, Dante Hahn (Victoria, British Columbia) tallied his team-leading eighth goal of the season to tie the score at two. Hahn, who has now recorded a point in six straight games, scored on the power play with Brett Garvey (Ashton, Ontario) and Pearson securing assists on the play.

- Max Mettler provided the game-winner Friday, scoring 11:04 into the final period. Nate Pionk and Rose assisted on the game-winning goal.

- Nick Malvin (Ham Lake, Minn.) totaled 26 saves, playing in his home state Friday evening. His counterpart, Forbes Ploszaj, stopped 32 shots.

- The Falcons ended the game 1-for-2 on the power play while the Saints countered with a 1-for-5 attack.

- The Falcons will visit Northland for an NCHA matchup tomorrow afternoon. Puck drop in Ashland, Wisconsin is set for 4 p.m.
