WAUKESHA, Wis. – Following a sweep of the No. 1 ranked team in the country, the Concordia University Wisconsin Men's Hockey team pulled off another sweep Tuesday, gaining both NCHA Weekly awards, announced by the league office. Connor Hogg was named the NCHA Offensive Player of the Week, while teammate Nick Malvin was chosen as the Defensive Player of the Week.
Hogg (London, Ontario) tallied five points over the two wins, scoring three goals and adding two assists. On Friday he scored the game-winning goal while adding two assists. He followed that up with a two-goal performance Saturday, which also included the game-winner. Hogg's highlight of the weekend was a score with 1.7 seconds remaining in the second period to break a scoreless tie Saturday.
Malvin (Ham Lake, Minn.) was outstanding between the pipes in both games. He recorded 59 saves over the weekend, allowing just two goals. On Saturday Malvin had 33 saves in his first career shutout. He posted a .967 save percentage over the two games.
Hogg, Malvin and the rest of the Falcons will be back in action this weekend with a road series at St. Scholastica. The opener is set for Friday at 7 p.m.
