ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Women's Track & Field team competed at the Augustana College Meet Thursday. CUW had several athletes set new personal best times and distances.
Sophomore Marissa Krohn (Brookfield, Wis.) paced the Falcons with a third-place finish in the javelin throw. Krohn set a new personal-best mark with a toss of 33.12 meters, breaking her previous best by two meters. She now ranks second in the NACC in the event. Krohn also posted a PR in the 100-meter hurdles, finishing in 18.7 seconds.
On the track, freshman Hannah Erl (Wauwatosa, Wis.) set two new personal bests in the 800 and 1,500-meter runs. Erl ran a 6:02.42 in the 1500 and added a time of 3:05.7 in the 800. Senior Caitlyn Stern (Mequon, Wis.) added a new PR in the 1500 as well, running the race in 5:14.1.
Freshman Nicole Gloede (Bonduel, Wis.) showed massive improvement in the hammer throw, recording a new best mark by 3.5 meters. Gloede posted a throw of 27.23 meters at the meet.
CUW also had a pair of athletes move up on the NACC leaderboards, including senior Kristin Sitte (Greenfield, Wis.). Sitte posted the third best time in the conference in the 400-meter hurdles (69.44), while adding the sixth top time in the 100-meter hurdles (17.26). Junior Andrea Kassees (Waukesha, Wis.) added the fifth-best mark in the conference this season in the shot put, landing a throw of 10.92 meters.
The Falcons will take part in the Beloit Relays next weekend. That will be the final meet for the team before the NACC Championships, scheduled for two weeks from now.
