Women's Track & Field competes at Rex Foster Open
WHITEWATER, Wis. - The Concordia University Wisconsin Women's Track & Field team had several great performances and personal records set as they begin their 2013 outdoor season at the Rex Foster Invitational Friday.
In the field events freshman Sara Hirschmann made the finals in the long jump with a jump of 4.75 meters placing sixth and ranking fifth in conference. CUW throwers performed well under cold conditions at 9:00 pm under only the ambient lighting of the track as freshman Karli Tatum (Milwaukee, Wis.) threw a PR of 11.27 meters getting her to finals and placing 5th. She is currently ranked second in the NAC.
On the track freshman Carly Beil (Lake Geneva, Wis.) placed 10th just missing finals with a time of 13.44 in the 100-meter dash, while sophomore Emily Mauermann (Janesville, Wis.) placed ninth in the 400 with a time of 1:01.6.
Other personal records were set by sophomore Alexandra Ezell (Kenosha, Wis.) in discus and hammer, sophomore Courtney Gilge (Phillips, Wis) in shot and hammer, sophomore Mary Heinz (Clintonville, Wis.) in shot, disc and hammer, junior Kristin Sitte (Greenfield, Wis.) in the 400, sophomore Sarah Volkert (Rockford, Ill.) in the 1500, and junior Lisa Wishmann (Richfield, Wis.) in the javelin and 400.
CUW will be back on the track next weekend when they compete in the Eagle Invitational Saturday. The meet will be hosted by Benedictine University and is set to begin at 10 a.m.
