Mauermann sets school record in 200-meters at UW-Parkside Classic Open

KENOSHA, Wis. – It was an impressive meet for Concordia University Wisconsin on Saturday at the UW-Parkside Classic Open as the men finished third and the women placed seventh, both season bests for each side as great performances and personal records were set.

The Falcon men earned 76 points for third place out of 14 competing teams. The women had 55 points for seventh of 14 competing teams.

Sophomore Emily Mauermann (Janesville, Wis.) had a great meet beginning off with high jump of 1.50 meters, a personal record height. Later in the meet, she ran the 200-meters in 27.17 to break the school record by .08 seconds and finish third over overall in the race. Mauermann is currently ranked first in the 200-meters and is tied for second in Northern Athletics Conference in high jump.

Freshman Jolyn Achs (Gurnee, Ill.) has been consistently running personal records and Saturday was no different. She ran an 11:39.64 in the 3,000-meters, trimming 30 seconds from her previous PR and finishing in seventh place in the event. Sophomore Brittney Duewell (Pewaukee, Wis.) also improved her time in the race by 14 seconds with a time of 13:29.41.

The women's throwing crew had a great day with multiple personal records broken. Freshman Hunter Maki (Baraga, Mich.) and freshman Karli Tatum (Milwaukee, Wis.) both set PRs in the shot put. Tatum made finals in the event with a toss of 10.78 meters and now ranks seventh in the NAC.

In the weight throw freshman Sarah Carini (Saukville, Wis.), Tatum and sophomore Courtney Gilge (Phillips, Wis.) all had PR throws. Gilge advanced to finals and placed ninth overall with a toss of 11.25 meters.

Other outstanding performances include junior Jessica Hennig (Springfield, Ill.), who ran a PR of 2:26.89 in the 800-meters to earn a fourth place finish, which moves her into second in the NAC. Freshman Larissa Schlitz (DeForest, Wis.) ran to a third place finish in the mile with a time of 5:37.76. Freshman Carly Beil (Lake Geneva, Wis.) ran a PR of 7.82 in the 55-meter dash, while junior Kristin Sitte (Greenfield, Wis.) was sixth in 55-meter hurdles with a time of 9.96. Sophomore Ashley Lyons (Sturgeon Bay, Wis.) also ran a PR in the mile with a time of 5:57.33. Junior Emily Pacheco (Iron Mountain, Mich.) finished with a season-best in the 400-meters after running 59.51.

The Falcons have a week off from competition before traveling to Madison, Wis., for the Wisconsin Red & White Open.
