WAUKESHA, Wis. – Concordia University Wisconsin Women's Soccer senior Carley Pfannerstill had a week to remember last week. First she reached 50 career goals in an 11-0 win over Alverno. She and the Falcons followed that with a 4-0 win over Dominican in a battle of NACC unbeatens, a match in which Pfannerstill added two more goals.
For her efforts Pfannerstill (Grafton, Wis.) was named the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Women's Soccer Student-Athlete of the Week for the events of October 12-18, the league office announced Monday.
Pfannerstill scored two times in the second half of a convincing win over Alverno, which helped set the stage for Saturday's showdown with Dominican. Each team entered that match with an unblemished mark in NACC play, the winner having the inside track at a league title.
Pfannerstill again showcased her scoring ability against the Stars, adding two second-half goals in the 4-0 win. She now has 13 goals and 34 points on the season.
The award was the fourth of the season for the Falcons, all four of those coming in the past five weeks. Pfannerstill has taken home NACC Weekly honors twice, while teammates Emily Ciesielczyk (Waukesha, Wis.) and Jaclyn Theune (Oostburg, Wis.) have each been honored once.
Pfannerstill and the Falcons will return to the pitch tomorrow with a road contest at Marian. Action is set to get underway at 7 p.m.
