The Raiders have the upper hand
this season in the two squad's only matchup, as they defeated the
Falcons 4-0 at Fitting Field on Sept. 28. Over the past six
meetings the two schools have played numerous intense matches with
MSOE holding a slight 3-2-1 advantage.
CUW looks to repeat on last
year's meeting in the quarterfinals of NAC Tournament in which it
downed MSOE, 1-0, behind junior Lauren Straehler's (Pewaukee, Wis.)
penalty kick goal in the opening minute of the contest.
One characteristic of head coach
Ryan Middendorf's team this season has been scoring, and scoring in
bunches. CUW ranks 21st in the nation (DIII) with a 3.38 goals per
match average, as of Oct. 23. The Falcons have scored three or more
goals in nine matches this season, all victories.
Individually, Straehler leads the
team with 15 goals and eight assists, while sophomore Hannah
Brehmer (Eagle River, Alaska) has netted 11 goals of her own. This
is also the sixth-consecutive season Middendorf has directed his
program to double-digit wins.
