Women’s Soccer Hosts NAC Foe Alverno College on Saturday

MEQUON, Wis. - The Falcons' women's soccer team begins a difficult four-match Northern Athletics Conference homestand on Saturday against Alverno College at 3:30 p.m. at Fitting Field. The homestand is the longest on CUW's schedule.

For the first time in head coach Ryan Middendorf's coaching career at CUW (4-3-0, 4-0-0 NAC) his squad has begun a conference season 4-0-0. The Falcons follow the Alverno match with contests against MSOE, Aurora University, and Edgewood College - schools that have perennially been on top of the league.

The Falcons feature a potent offense that is ranked 14th in the nation (DIII) as of Sept. 18. In four league matches CUW has outscored its opponents 27-1 and have an 18-goal advantage overall.

Junior Lauren Straehler (Pewaukee, Wis.) leads the team with eight goals and two game-winning goals. She is also ranked nationally in the top-39 in five different individual categories.

CUW's defense is ranked first in the NAC with a 0.25 goals against average.

Middendorf's squad continues its homestand on Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 4 p.m. against NAC rival MSOE at Fitting Field.
