Falcon women’s soccer is 2-0 in the NAC
Box Score: MBBC 0, CUW 3
Mequon, Wis. -- A 30 yard unassisted scoring blast by junior
Lauren Straehler (Pewaukee, Wis.) less than 12 minutes into the
contest set the tone as Ryan Middendorf's squad went on to a 3-0
win over visiting Maranatha (2-3) last evening. Straehler's upper
90 launch, which cleared the outstretched hands of leaping Crusader
keeper Ginny Martin, was her fourth score of the young season.
CUW was frustrated for the remainder of the initial half, firing
14 shots toward Maranatha's goal, but not adding another score.
That changed after halftime as senior Kelli Wittenberg (Sturtevant,
Wis.) and and Anna Hirssig (Rochester, Minn.) on a Wittenberg
assist, helped create the final point differential.
Concordia so dominated play that Maranatha had only one shot on
goal during the entire match compared to CUW's 25. The improving
Falcons also had 10 corner kicks while the visitors had nary an
opportunity.
Middendorf's team travels to CU-Chicago for a 3:30pm Saturday
matchup in a bid to improve to 3-0 in conference play.
