WHEATON, Ill. – Concordia University Wisconsin put together some of its best wrestling on Saturday at the Wheaton College Duals. The Falcons earned victories over Wheaton College, 26-20, Manchester College, 24-16, and North Central College, 30-14.
CUW (5-6 in duals) snapped a two-match duals losing streak with the victories and received many impressive performances throughout the day. Sophomores Sean Ambrocio (San Antonio, Texas) and Greg Sanders (San Antonio, Texas) finished a perfect 3-0 in their bouts.
Ambrocio earned wins by technical fall (23-5), major decision (15-3) and by fall (6:10) to improve his overall record to 20-5 and 9-2 in dual matches.
Sanders earned two victories by fall (1:05, 2:08) and by major decision (19-6) to increase his win total to 25 this season, including an 8-0 record in dual bouts. The one minute and five second win by fall over Gage Burt (Wheaton College) was his fastest of the season.
Freshman Mason Baumgartner (Slinger, Wis.),senior Shawn Flom (Random Lake, Wis.), sophomore Casey Kenealy (Hartford, Wis.) and sophomore Jake Reuteler (New Berlin, Wis.) each won two of their three bouts during the day.
Flom picked up a major decision win, 12-2, over Luke Sims (Wheaton College), while Kenealy earned his third victory by fall this season over Vince Marrone (North Central College) in 3:32. Baumgartner won a 9-1 major decision over Jacob Seagraves (Manchester College) to snap a six-bout losing streak. Reuteler won two bouts by decision to even his overall record at 10-10.
CUW returns to the mat on Friday, Feb. 1 when it returns to Wheaton College for the Pete Wilson Invitational.
