MEQUON, Wis. - In what was their home and season opener, the Concordia University Wisconsin women's lacrosse team fell 15-7 to Otterbein University (Ohio) on Wednesday afternoon at Fitting Field.
The Falcons (0-1) held a 7-3 lead with just under six minutes to go in the first half, but things came apart in the second half, when the Cardinals (1-3) scored 11 goals while shutting out CUW on the other end.
The two teams went back and forth during the early stages of the game, before CUW scored five goals, three of them from Reiter, in a span of eight minutes to take a four-goal advantage.
But less than two minutes after the Falcons' seventh tally, Reiter received her second yellow card and was forced to watch the rest of the game from the bench.
The Cardinals took advantage, scoring almost at will in the second half to take a commanding lead that they would never relinquish.
Victoria Blatt scored five goals for Otterbein, while Alyssa Johnson added three.
Next up for CUW is a trip to Hilton Head, S.C., where they'll take on Eastern Connecticut State and Clarkson (NY) over the spring break.
