WAUKESHA, Wis. – Jennifer DeGeorge keeps playing well between the pipes for the Concordia University Wisconsin Women's Hockey team and the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association has noticed. DeGeorge was named the league's Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season, the conference announced Tuesday.
DeGeorge made 55 saves over two games as the Falcons split a weekend series with NCHA preseason favorite St. Norbert College. The junior made 27 saves in a one-goal loss on Friday before coming up with 28 stops and a 2-1 win over the Green Knights on Saturday.
She now has 230 saves in nine games this season, ranking first in the conference. DeGeorge also ranks second in the league with a 2.44 GAA and a .916 save percentage, trailing only Lindsey Hartfiel of St. Norbert in those two categories.
DeGeorge and the rest of her teammates will have off until January 3 when CUW is set to host St. Benedict in a non-conference weekend series.
