Falcon hockey women win 2-1 on OT buzzer beater

St. Paul, MN

Senior Alisha Java scored the power play game-winner with one second left in overtime to give Concordia an exciting 2-1 New Year's Eve win over host Hamline today in St. Paul, Minnesota.

CUW's Samantha Meuwissen scored the games' first goal near the close of period one but Hamline's Rachel Deick tied things up at 6:49 of the second session.

Although Jim Ingman's skaters controlled possession of the puck throughout and fired 44 shots at the Hamline goal (compared to 17 for the hosts), it took the buzzer beater by Java to improve the Falcons to 5-7-1 on the season.

Hamline dropped to 2-4-3 overall and will look for revenge as the teams prepare for a New Year's Day rematch.
