PLATTEVILLE, Wis. – Andrew Coop and Dayton Lueck each finished in the top ten as the Concordia University Wisconsin Men's Cross Country team competed at the Pioneer Invite, hosted by UW-Platteville, Saturday morning.
Coop (junior – Mora, Minn.) once again paced the Falcons as he ran a season-best 27:28.7, finishing fifth among 45 runners. Lueck (freshman – Wauwatosa, Wis.) was the next Falcon to finish the 8K course as he crossed the finish line in 28:18.1, coming in 10th place.
Rounding out the scoring lineup for CUW was the trio of sophomore Adam Fell (Mundelein, Ill.), junior Christopher Biesboer (Elmhurst, Ill.) and senior Jordan Guenther (West Bend, Wis.). Fell ran a 28:45.8, while Biesboer finished in a personal-best time of 29:03.0. Guenther was the fifth CUW runner to complete the course, running a season-best 29:07.4.
Next in line for CUW was sophomore Johann Hinck (Cedarburg, Wis.) as he ran a 29:12 and was followed by freshman James Haessly (Grafton, Wis.), who clocked in at 29:17. Freshman Zach Ziemann (Jackson, Wis.) and sophomore Stephen Bernau (Courtland, Minn.) were the next two Falcons, recording times of 29:27.8 and 29:46.4, respectively.
Junior Robert Meilbeck (Winthrop Harbor, Ill.) and freshmen Michael Taylor (Denmark, Wis.), Aaron Reseburg (Sheboygan, Wis.) and Damon Nick (Slinger, Wis.) also competed on Saturday. Taylor ran a personal-best 29:56.7.
UW-Platteville won the meet by scoring 21 points and finishing with six of the top 10 runners. Joel Walden of UWP was the top finisher with a time of 26:34.2.
CUW will be back in action next weekend, beginning the championship portion of its schedule. The Falcons will host the Wisconsin Private College Championships with the men's race being scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
