NEW ORLEANS – Concordia University Wisconsin's men's and women's cross country teams performed in the classroom during the 2012 season, as both were named to the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Team, the organization announced.
The Falcon men's program finished with a team grade point average of 3.38, while the women had a 3.36 team GPA. To qualify as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Cross Country Team, the team must have had a cumulative team GPA of 3.10 or better.
CUW finished third and fourth, respectively, in the Northern Athletics Conference Cross Country Championships this past fall. Sophomore Andrew Coop (Mora, Minn.) led the men's team with a sixth-place finish after crossing the finish line in 26:54.81, a season best of him. Freshman Larissa Schlitz (DeForest,Wis.) led the women's team with a 15th-place finish with a time of 24.46.87, which was a personal record for the rookie runner.
