MEMPHIS – The Concordia University Wisconsin Men's Track & Field competed in its outdoor season for the first time this past weekend at the Rhodes College Invitational. The Falcons competed against several teams in higher divisions, but still came away with some good performances to begin the season.

The distance runners had several PRs over the two-day meet, including senior Robert Meilbeck (Winthrop Harbor, Ill.). Meilbeck ran a 4:42.77 in the mile for a new PR, while adding a personal-bst 15:57.18 in the 5K. Two other Falcons posted a PR in the mile as sophomore Zach Ziemann (Jackson, Wis.) clocked in at 4:42.69, while junior Trent Pacheco (Iron Mountain, Mich.) posted a time of 5:37.8. Freshman Brennan Linse (Jefferson, Wis.) also had two personal-best times as he crossed the finish line in 10:18.41 in the 3K and 16:33.27 in the 5K.

In the shorter distances it was Bobby Russ (Wauwatosa, Wis.) who was busy setting new PRs. Russ sprinted to an 11.95 in the 100-meter dash, while adding a PR of 24.05 in the 200. Sophomore Jacob Grosenick (Richfield, Wis.) added a 24.20 in the 200 for a PR of his own. Freshman Tyus Groos (Stevens Point, Wis.) ran the 400-meter dash in 53.98, which was good for a personal best.

Freshman Silas Hasselbrook (Missoula, Mont.) added a PR for CUW in the 400-meter hurdles over the weekend with a time of 59.72. The final Falcon PR of the weekend came in the pole vault as junior Bathong Pham (Milwaukee, Wis.) cleared 3.80 meters for the first time in his outdoor career.

The Falcons will be back competing next weekend when they take part in the Carroll University Invite on Saturday. The meet is scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m.
