Track & Field begins outdoor season Friday
MEQUON, Wis. - After an indoor season that concluded with an NAC Championship for the men and a runner-up finish for the women, the Concordia University Wisconsin track & field teams will travel to Atlanta, Ga. this weekend for the Emory Invitational.
The meet will be CUW's first outdoor meet of the 2012 season, and will take place at the Woodruff PE Center on the campus of Emory University on Friday and Saturday. Live stats and live video (Saturday only) will be provided.
Friday's action is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m., and will resume again at 9 a.m. on Saturday morning.
The Falcon men will be looking to build on what was a very successful indoor season that saw them win their third Northern Athletics Conference title in four years.
Senior hurdler Alex Pawlak (Colgate, Wis.) finished the indoor season ranked 17th nationally in the 60m Hurdles with a top time of 8.33 seconds, while fellow senior Vincent Greefkes (Jackson, Wis.) was ranked 25th (8.37 seconds) in the same event.
Senior Justin Rogers (Milwaukee, Wis.) also had an outstanding indoor season, leading CUW to the conference title with first place finishes in the Triple Jump, 55m Dash, 200m Dash, and 4x400m Relay.
On the women's side, freshman Emily Mauermann (Janesville, Wis.) earned NAC Freshman of the Meet at NAC Championships after she personally posted 18.5 points.
Sophomores Kelsey Wagner and Maxine Blohowiak, and freshmen Caitlyn Stern and Sarah Maynard formed a Distance Medley team that finished second at conference with a time of 13:41.10.
