NAPERVILLE, Ill. - In their final shot to qualify for NCAA Indoor National Championships on March 9-10, seniors Alex Pawlak and Vincent Greefkes competed in the NCC Last Chance Qualifier on Friday afternoon on the campus of North Central College.
Both Falcons impressed in the 60m Hurdles, as Greefkes (Jackson, Wis.) finished second in the finals with a time of 8.37 seconds, while Pawlak (Colgate, Wis.) was just behind him in third place with a time of 8.39.
Unfortunately, however, neither hurdler was able qualify for Nationals.
All athletes on the men's side must finish in the top 13 nationally in their respective events, and Pawlak ended up in 17th (8.33 seconds) in the 60m Hurdles while Greefkes finished 25th (8.37) in the country.
"They both had great indoor seasons," assistant coach Samantha Bloxdorf said after the meet. "We're very excited to see what they'll be able to do once the outdoor season starts."
This was the final indoor meet for the CUW Track & Field teams. The outdoor season will begin on March 23, when the Falcons will travel to Atlanta, Ga. to take part in the Emory Invitational.
