NAPERVILLE, Ill. – Alex Pawlak had one last chance to qualify for the NCAA Division III Tournament and he ran his best races of the outdoor season on Friday at the North Central College Gregory Invitational Final Qualifier. The senior hurdler qualified for the national tournament after running a season best in the 110- and 400-meter hurdles.
Pawlak, a Colgate, Wis., native just made the finals in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.89 before setting a new personal best and school record in the finals with a 14.61 time. He finished second overall in the finals and now ranks tied for 15th in the nation.
The 6-foot-1, 180-pounder then fed off his earlier performance with another dazzling display of athleticism. Pawlak finished third in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 53.29, which also set a school record. His time places him 18th nationally.
