WAUKESHA, Wis. - Concordia University Wisconsin junior Skip Turner has been named the Northern Athletics Conference Men's Tennis Student-Athlete of the Week for events of April 29-May 5, as selected by the league's sports information directors.
Turner (Eau Claire, Wis.) played a key part in the Falcons (16-9, 9-0 NAC) winning their third-consecutive NAC Tournament Saturday. The junior partnered with senior Taylor Shaffer (Stoughton, Wis.) for a pair of No. 1 doubles wins, 8-3 over Edgewood in the semifinals, and 8-0 over MSOE in the championship. Turner also won his No. 2 singles match in the semifinals, while his singles match against MSOE was unfinished with Turner leading in the second set.
Turner and the Falcons will begin NCAA Tournament play Friday when they take on Ohio Northern University at UW-Whitewater. The winner of that match will play Trinity University (Texas) on Saturday.
