MEQUON, Wis. – In making his second and third career collegiate starts, Concordia University Wisconsin goalkeeper Alec Brew recorded his first and second career shutouts. Brew was awarded for his outstanding week as he was named the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Men's Soccer Student-Athlete of the Week for the events of Oct. 14-20, as voted on by the league's sports information directors.
Brew (Appleton, Wis.) shut out both Marian University and MSOE for a pair of NACC wins last week. He recorded three saves in the 4-0 win over Marian, while adding four saves in a 2-0 win over MSOE. The Falcons improved to 4-2-1 in NACC play with three conference matches remaining.
Of course no goalkeeper can be successful without strong play in front of him, especially from the defenders. Senior Jacob Pope (Muskego, Wis.) and sophomores David Kulberg (Osseo, Minn.), Mitchell Boehm (Plymouth, Mich.) and Mark Samuel (Brookfield, Wis.) all played well in front of Brew, helping the Falcons gain the shutouts.
Brew and the Falcons will be back in action Wednesday night when they visit Wisconsin Lutheran College. Play is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
