Box Score: CUW 12, MSOE 2
MEQUON, Wis. - Justin Krause and Peter Morton each scored three goals, and Concordia University Wisconsin cruised to a 12-2 Midwest Lacrosse Conference victory over MSOE on Wednesday afternoon at Fitting Field.
CUW and MSOE were tied 1-1 after a quarter of play before the Falcons offense turned it on and scored 11 goals over the final 45 minutes of play. CUW finished with a decisive 43-17 shot advantage and cleared 21-of-26 attempts.
The duo of Krause (sophomore, Hartland, Wis.) and Morton (sophomore, Albany, Ga.) each scored a season-high in goals, while sophomore Sam Wladyka (Winnipeg, Manitoba and freshman Derek Brueske (Hopkins, Minn.) each assisted on three goals. Brueske's helpers were a season-high for the attacker.
As a team, the Falcons caused 19 turnovers and were led by sophomore Colin Stephenson (Caledonia, Mich.) who forced three.
Following a 1-all tie after the opening quarter, CUW rattled off eight-consecutive goals during the middle portion of the victory to take control of the conference matchup. The Falcons' Andy Riveness (freshman, Hastings, Minn.) scored his first goal of his career with 3:34 to play.
Sophomore Zack Davis (La Porte, Ind.) earned the victory in goal after allowing two goals and saving seven shot attempts. Freshman Michael Rodgers (Houston, Texas) also received playing time in the fourth quarter and recorded a save.
CUW returns to action on Saturday with a 1 p.m. matchup against the College of Mount. St. Joseph. The MLC game will be played at Fitting Field.
