Coming off of a program-best 11-win season, the Concordia University Wisconsin Men's Hockey team has high expectations heading into the 2016-17 campaign. The Falcons, who will begin tomorrow with a series against Lake Forest, are receiving a vote in both Preseason Top 15 national polls, while also being tabbed for a fifth-place finish in the NCHA.

CUW picked up a vote in each of the preseason polls, one issued by D3Hockey.com and the other by the USCHO. The Falcons were one of five teams in the NCHA to receive a vote in each poll, joining St. Norbert, Adrian, Marian and St. Scholastica. St. Norbert and Adrian each checked in the top five in both polls.

The NCHA preseason coaches' poll followed the national poll closely with those five teams coming in the top five slots. The Green Knights received six first-place votes and 96 poll points to edge out Adrian (five first-place votes, 95) as the preseason favorite in the league.

St. Scholastica was predicted third with 79 poll points, followed by Marian (72) and the Falcons (58). Lawrence and MSOE each received 50 poll points, while the Falcons opening opponent Lake Forest was next in line (45). Northland (29), Aurora (19) and Finlandia (12) rounded out the poll.

The Falcons open at home tomorrow night against Lake Forest at 7 p.m. CUW will then visit the Foresters Saturday night for a 7 p.m. start.
