Men's hockey falls short at MSOE

MILWAUKEE - Concordia University Wisconsin fell 3-1 at MSOE in a tight MCHA contest Friday night at the Kern Center in the first game of a two-game home-and-home series.

The scoring started early in the first period when Casey Moneer was set up by Michael Thompson at the 1:26 mark. The Raiders made it 2-0 in the second when Kevin LoGiudice scored on a two-man advantage. Bradley Tierney and Derek Tykla picked up the assists on that tally.

Late in the third, junior defenseman Brandon Bayer (Milwaukee, Wis.) pulled the Falcons within one at the 17:38 mark, but that was as close as the CUW would come to the Raiders. MSOE capped off their final goal by Kyle Smith from Steven Shaffroth.

MSOE goalie Nick Kohn made 27 saves in the victory. The Raiders (12-7-1, 9-5-1 MCHA) face the Falcons (6-14-0, 6-9-0 MCHA) at the Ozaukee Ice Center in Mequon, Wis., on Saturday at 7 p.m.
