WAUKESHA, Wis. – Concordia University Wisconsin's football team was selected to defend the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference championship in a vote by the league's head coaches and athletic communicators.
The Falcons are coming off their most successful season in the NACC era, after going undefeated (6-0) during the 2013 campaign and earning the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Playoffs. CUW set a multitude of team and individuals records last season and look to do the same during the 2014 season.
CUW earned 12 of the 14 possible first place votes, and tallied 96 total points.
Benedictine University was chosen second with two first-place votes and 80 points, while Wisconsin Lutheran College had 66 total points. Lakeland College was fourth with 54 points, Aurora University was fifth with 50 points and Concordia University Chicago and Rockford College concluded the seven team poll with 28 and 18 points, respectively
All seven teams will have played their opening non-conference game following Saturday, Sept. 13. The NACC portion of the schedule begins on Saturday, Oct. 4. The NACC Champion earns an automatic bid in the 2014 NCAA Division III Playoffs.
