Augsburg’s aerial assault grounds CUW 62-10

Minneapolis

Augsburg quarterback Marcus Brumm had a field day, throwing for over 400 yards as the hosts defeated Concordia 62-10 Saturday afternoon in Minneapolis.

Brumm ran 5 yards for a score on the Auggies' first possession of the day before firing 5 TD passes over the next two quarters. CUW (0-1) countered the first TD with a Dan Winsey 42 yard field goal to make it 7-3 but Augsburg (4-6 a year ago) added another 34 points prior to halftime.

Touchdown tosses of 47, 22, 37, and 8 yards by Brumm were part of the second quarter onslaught.

Statistics told the story of this game as Brumm completed 28 of 35 for 420 of Augsburg's 517 total yards. Concordia gained 176 yards, but 60 of that came on the final Falcon drive against Auggie reserves.

Carlton Austin rushed for 66 hard-earned yards to lead CUW offensively while freshman Frank Pugh scored the Falcon TD on a 13 yard sprint with 4:58 remaining in the contest.
