The Falcons are coming off a bye week and are in search of their first win against Maranatha Baptist. Maranatha Baptist is also 0-3 and the hosts are looking to steal a victory from the Falcons. "They (Crusaders) have a small roster but have kids who play with tremendous passion and intensity, commented one Falcon assistant. Besides home field advantage, the Crusaders have a multi-talented player in quarterback Mike Crawford who does it all for them. They also have Robert DuPre at receiver who is not afraid of going up and getting the football. The Crusaders like to run the ball and then throw it deep trying to catch the defense off guard.
Expect the Crusaders to throw the ball more in order to try and take advantage of the Falcon secondary. The CUW pass defense was suspect against Wheaton and needs to improve as a unit. (Tackling, getting off blocks, pass coverage and creating turnovers). The play of Concordia's defensive backs (led by senior Dontrell Hall) will set the tone for conference play. The Falcons defensive line will also have to play a more physical brand of football than was the case against the powerful opposition that the unrelenting non-conference schedule provided. The key to victory for the Falcons according to head Coach Greg Etter is simple. "We have to eliminate mental and physical mistakes and we have to improve as a football team every week thru the conference schedule."
