Concordia Wisconsin Men AND Women capture NAC All-Sports awards
WAUKESHA
The Northern Athletics Conference has announced the conference's winners of the All-Sports and Sportsmanship awards for the 2009-10 academic year. Concordia University Wisconsin captured both the men's and the women's All-Sports awards, while Maranatha Baptist Bible College was honored with both Sportsmanship awards.
The 2009-10 Men's All-Sports Award went to CUW for the first time in conference history, snapping Aurora University's streak of three-consecutive titles. This year the Falcon men captured titles in both indoor and outdoor track and field and the North Division title in basketball. They also took second in cross country and tennis for a 21.78 index, edging out Edgewood College (21.71) by just seven-hundredths of a point--the closest margin in history.
For the women's award the Falcons finished with a 26.06 index, more than four points ahead of runner-up Aurora (21.94), for the largest margin in history. CUW captured titles in cross country, golf and outdoor track and field and also won the North Division title in basketball. This is CUW's third-straight women's award.
The All-Sports Awards are based on both the final conference standings of the regular season or championship, and the conference tournament finishes in the sports that offer postseason tournaments (baseball, basketball, soccer, softball, and volleyball).
